These charts are nice for a reference, but take the results with a grain of salt.

For instance:

8600GT Oblivion outdoor 1600x1200 no AA 8xAF, according to Tom's: 9fps

My rig 1680x1050 +Qarl's texture pack no AA 16xAF 25fps(stock clocks)

Well all the tests are at stock at Tom's...that's a big part of it I am sure

Your rig is overclocked

What I really want to know is why the 640 GTS is beaten by the 320 GTS several times...and why the GTX is beating the ultra some times...that just doesn't seem right

I edited my post... OC'ed I average 30fps. Not to mention which a 20% OC won't triple your FPS

e: Also, I'm running more intensive settings... texture mods and higher Aniso filter. According to Tom's numbers I should be getting about 7fps with those settings stock, and maybe 9fps OC'ed if I'm lucky.

edit2: Heck, even their 8800GTS numbers are way off... I was getting NO LESS than 35-37fps outdoors with my eVGA 8800GTS 640mb at stock 500 core, more like 45fps average.

8800GTS=23.7fps?!?! even my 8600GT does better than that... it's like they benched all the cards and then applied random multipliers to the results.

It's still frowned upon. The Rep button is there in plain sight, people will use it if they feel it is warranted.

Looking at these charts some more the results are just bizarre. I think maybe they just wrote fps numbers down on little pieces of paper and then used one of those lotto tumblers to select them or something.

heh I definately agree. I am personally not going to put a lot of faith in them. Might use it to get a very, very, rough estimate.

Though some of the older cards seem to be right where you'd expect them to be.

Oh snap, look at this:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=706&chart=298

The 320mb version of the 8800GTS did better (ever so slightly though) than the 640mb version!
Is this common knowledge/old news, or is this just strange?

VERY,VERY rough.

I'm kinda sad because I halfway trusted tom's charts before this but wow.
