VGA Charts: Summer 2007 - Page 3

HA! look at the 1024x768 with AA and AF turned on for Dark Messiah. Actually look at all of the Dark Messiah tests...any one have the game and a 8800GTS 320? could you verify that it only gets and average of 13.1 fps?

That can't be right...if these tests were ran off of fraps, could there have been problems with fraps?

I may just have to put Tom's on my blocked list...wow

The BF 2142 test are what i would expect though

The 320mb version of the 8800GTS did better (ever so slightly though) than the 640mb version!
Is this common knowledge/old news, or is this just strange?
It gets beat ever so slightly at the lower resolution though. I wonder how much drivers are involved.

People regularly forget to rep, they say thanks but don't rep, you can't mention it though just because it inflates your numbers.

I would imagine that it should be backwards, shouldn't it? Shouldn't it need more memory for the higher res? And even then, the 640mb shouldn't HURT it at a higher res!

It just doesn't add up... =/

Lol my 256mb card gets one less frame per second than two 7950gx2 SLI'd in Oblivion maxed out. I like these charts.

OK we're done with that, k thx bye.

Ah, glad you guys pointed out some of the benchies seem far off. I was about to further scold the 8600 series

X1950XT and 7950GT are the best cards under $200. If you're going past $200 the 8800GTS is the obvious choice.

Lower budget seems to be 7900GS, X1950Pro.

As a former 7900GT and x1950pro owner, I would pick my 8600GT anyday over those two. As far as I'm concerned it is an amazing card, it absolutely tears up Oblivion, and this is coming from a guy that had an 8800GTS 640mb one week ago. Please do not use these charts to make decisions, they are wildly innaccurate.

I almost would have said that it was intentional solely to make the 8600 look bad, but as a former 8800 owner I was surprised to see the numbers for them were way off as well.

edit: Actually, after having owned and personally tested so many different cards, I pretty much don't trust what anyone says anymore... Tom's really has me dissappointed with these benches though. I mean 300% off from the numbers I am benching on my system???? Seriously?

Tom's hardware is venerable; i don't see why they would try to do that. Maybe they missed something or somehow screwed something up.

Also, it IS the 8600GT, not the GTS. I don't know how big of a difference that would make, though.

I can only guess, but like I said, 300% off???

Even the 8800GTS was at least 30-40% off from my personal results and those of others that I have seen. The only two things I can think of is they are benching with an underclocked single core, or FRAPS is causing some kind of issue. I was kinda making a joke about rampant 8600-bashing with the whole "intentional" thing.

I am not quite connecting with this statement, they have benches for both the GT and the GTS. Do you mean something else?
