sure. but think of this....
a datacenter full of servers. (lets say 15 thousand rack servers. with an average of 2 hard drivers per server.)
add it up. i get 300k a year.
that means that that datacenter can lower their server prices because they are saving 300k a year just on power for the hard drives.
cpu/ram and now hard drives becoming cheaper. all we really need is cheaper electric. and cheaper fiber connections for datacenters. and we can have some crazy powerful and cheap dedicated servers
it might not be much for the average joe to save 10$ a hard driver per year.
but think how many hard drives people like google have?
