8800GTX & HDTV custom resolutions?

Thread Starter
I have my 8800GTX hooked up to my HDTV, but it will only display up to 1024*786 because it says that there is no edid information on the display. i tried using power strip but the advanced timing options button is greyed out because it doesn't support the 8800GTX. you used to be able to do custom resolutions in the nvidia control panel but there isn't a advanced timings button their like there used to be in the classic style. so how do you do it?

i tried my hdtv with mine too and couldnt get a proper resolution. i used a dvi to hdmi cable and i couldnt find a good resolution, not even 1024x768. what kind of inputs you got on the tv. right now i have a dvi to vga cable which works on my 32' hdtv. i set the resolution on that to 1280x768 and it looks pretty good. but i was really hopin for hdmi, oh well.

it has dvi-i, component which does make 1080i work but not with hdcp, and the standard sdtv inputs. but i really want to get the dvi to work so i can use the hdcp.

does your tv have a vga output? if so get a dvi to vga cable. the resolution is actually pretty good at 1280x768. i play oblivion and fear at that res. and they look good.
