Sctrict low budget build

Thread Starter
I'm trying to upgrade my ram, cpu, motherboard, and graphics card with one BIG stipulation. I have to spend less than $30 out of pocket. Meaning I have what ever I can get out of my current set up plus the 30. I would like to get the 3600 brisbane and a gig of ram. I was thinking about an ATI 2600 because this will be used as a mediabox/server but that will probably be out of my price range so the 2400 may have to do. My biggest problem is the motherboard because i'm so out of the loop i don't know anything about AM2 boards.

My current breakdown is
Processor
old: Athlon XP 3000 Sell for $60-70 (a 3200 just sold on ebay for 75)
new: X2 3600 $62

Ram
old: 1 gig kingston value : $30
new 1 gig kingston value: $50

Motherboard
old: Asus A7N8X $50??
new: ???

Graphics card
old: evga 6800 $60??
new: 2600 pro $90

Any better estimates and suggestions are more than welcome.

Keep your total rig. Do not bother upgrading any single thing. Save up $500-600 than build a decent budget gaming rig

There's no way that the Athlon XP would sell for that much.

It really can't be done for that cheap. The processor definitely won't sell for $80 (unless you find someone really dumb), and it'd be better to do a real upgrade in a year or two rather than try to make it happen when it shouldn't.

Why do you need an upgrade? If it's for gaming just keep saving up...

Try more like $30-$40 if you're lucky for the XP...

sorry, mis type on the graphics card, its a 6800 not the 7800

redid the estimate on the processor. a 3200 just sold for 75 on ebay so i'd say 60-70 for my 3000

won't be able to upgrade within the next 3 years. I have to pay for my own college and i'm trying to get through with as little in loans as passable. I added an extra year by switching majors so that doesn't help. I've made it though 2 years with just under 8000 in loans and hope to keep that pace up
