What overclock didn't tell you is that my power supply has been running solid with 4 internal hard drives, 2 external and two internal dvd drives. I've taken all of my hard drives off for my new computer and I'm putting a 300 watt DX10 card with a new Core 2 Duo motherboard and CPU. I think my power supply can handle the depreciated load.

IMO, getting a good PSU is worth every bit of the money, even if it was 100 dollars.

HDD's don't draw a lot of power, externals draw a tiny amount of power, if not any, because they are powered by an external transformer (wall wort). That PSU will crap out from the strain. Good luck, hate to see such a wonderful card go .
