No budget limit but very lost on where to begin with.

I want to build a computer from scratch (first time builder, however know the basic gist of it.), but not sure if I want to start with an AMD build or an Intel build. Before I wanted to start with an AMD build but I'm not so sure anymore but could you guys give me some tip?

Well so that you guys won't think "***," I'll just give out a basic outline of what I wanted on this "build.":

1. Dual-Core
2. 3-4 HDD (2 probably fast drives and the other 2 huge memory drives). Raid-0 configuration.

3. 2 gb of ram.
4. SLI
5. CD/DVD bay / recorder on 2nd bay.
6. Asus mobo
7. coolermaster wavemaster case

I think that should cover about everything. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated .

Well, right now I'm going to say that if you were to buy today, I think you're silly not to go Intel because the C2D's are just dominating right now.

My suggestion would be for you to go looking at hardware in other members' rigs, and then look at what is available to you. www.newegg.com is a great store to buy from, as is our sponsor vendor www.tankguys.biz.

For your hard drives, I see no point to having 4 drives, but rather 2x120gb drives in RAID 0 and perhaps a single 500gb drive, depending on your storage needs.

You say specifically Asus mobo and no budget, so I see no reason not to go with a P5K. Outstanding boards.

And finally, my question to you on your GPUs is one of resolution: Sure, SLI gives crazy bragging rights, but if you don't need to run large resolutions there is no reason why to not get a single, more powerful, card.

Agreed with above.
Intel is the way to go right now especially for priceerformance and even if price isn't a matter they have the X6800 for that. If overclocking, ASUS P5b deluxe or striker. ASUS makes real nice mobos. What cooling are you looking into?

Yes don't make the same mistake of doing SLI! I am doing that and Yes it is amazing but It would've been cheaper and more reasonable just to get one heck of a lot nice card
