Making website need programs?

post #1 of 20

Hey guys I am trying to make myself a little summer job business with repairing computers and etc. I want to create my own little website. I went to godaddy and saw that they had like $9 a year websites and I think thats what I want to go with. What programs do I need to build a website? I know the basics of html but i know like no php. Any good programs you guys know about? What all do I need to get this started. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Dream Weaver is a good program. Then you could always just use joomla. http://www.joomla.org/

Dreamweaver has always been my favorite. That tagged along with Photoshop and some basic CSS will make for a nice Web 2.0-styled site.

Dreamweaver is very good software for you, I've used it for my work, it is very friendly and easy. PHP is very easy for study, it is possible to become familiar with it in a short time.
Good Luck

Agreed, Dreamweaver is the best I've ever seen. Get that and just start at it, there's countless sites that can help you out in using it and you can buy tons of books that will help you out as well. Once you get to know the program you'll have a lot of fun with it and can makes some incredible stuff.

Notepad to be honest. Though if you like to see the different tags in your code highlighted better you could always try HTML-Kit.

Bleh. Notepad. I remember using that when I'd started getting into web design. Took forever. Cause I was a slow typer then too. haha But any program is better than just using notepad.

notepad = fail

I would say dreamweaver or microsoft frontpage

I started off with frontpage, then i learned photoshop, then i switched to dreamweaver. BOTH ARE GREAT
