CSC's Build #6 08/07

Well, it's been a weird month with this computer, so I'm going to try to sell it to a friend and build me a new one. I'm running out of friends who need computers, so I'm going to try to stick with my next build.

E4500 (2.2 GHz, 800 FSB, 11x) $145

AC FReezer 7 Pro $34

GIGABYTE GA-P35-S3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $90

2GB GSKILL DDR2 800 2GBNQ $89

Sapphire X1950XT $170

WD 250GB SATA $62

Lite-On DVD burner SATA $35

HT Omega Striker Sound Card $80

Thermal Take PurePower 600W Modular PSU (4x22A on the 12v) $124

Cooler Master Ammo 533 Case $75

Non-negotiable: Case is set in stone, RAM must be GSKILL, proc must be C2D, mobo suggestions must not be Asus, PSU must be modular. Budget is exactly what all this listed above is subtotaled:

$915

I think it's a BAMF setup for the price... I love my 8800 but I'm looking for more raw CPU power, and the X1950XT will almost definitely hold me over for a long time.

What do y'all think?

Looks like a nice build to me, although i haven't heard of that soundcard before. I wouldnt mind a nice pc like that

Drop soundcard, and get an 8800GTS. With a Core 2 Duo, the extra CPU load caused by onboard doesnt' matter that much, and you probably don't have good enough speakers/headphones to notice the difference.

here's a 8800GTS:

that adds $30 to the total (after dropping the soundcard).

Also, I highly recommend a Corsair PSU over the thermaltake:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...corsair%2b520w

Same price, modular, and better quality. And 40A on the 12V rails isn't bad at all (the Thermaltake delivers 48A, which is more, but for your rig you won't need that much, and the Corsair is definately a better pick)

Your rep button is broken <_<

However, I'll take your suggestions. I'll go for Corsair PSU, it's got good reviews from you and Newegg. Plus, I get to say I've owned 5 different PSU brands.

As far as the graphics card, I'll go for it. I have a four year old 2.1 tabletop 360W Sony system and Platronics GameCom1 headphones. The headphones kick ass... point is, I'd like a dedicated sound card. However, it's a cheaper add-on than upgrading the GPU.

That's indeed another point... it's an easy add-on.

I'd definately get the 8800 ...

Good luck
