8600GT and GTS are horrible deals....go for the 8800GTS 320....at only a price premium of about 50 USD over the 8600GTS, I don't know why anyone would give the 8600 series a second glance. The benchmarks speak for themselves. The best cost/performance ratio lies with the 8800GTS 320.

How can I stress this. I'm not that rich. I don't care if the 8800GTS 320MB is 4 times as fast. I simply won't pay that much money for a graphics card now!

x1950xt.
$150 after rebate and will play oblivion very smoothly at those settings. Much better deal then any of those other cards. Oblivion plays fine on mine at 1600x1200.

It'll blow the pants off of both of those cards.
I agree. I voted others as the x1950xt is the king of the DX9 cards at present for Oblivion. nVidia cards cannot play with HDR and AA on (apart from the new ones I think; DX10)

At the current prices (with rebates) the x1950xt is fantastic value and will last for a while too.
I play Obivion with QT3 on max everything @ 1280x1024 on my machine. The experience is awesome compared with my x800gto.

Theres actually a bug w/Oblivion, and no mater what card you use, you cannot use FSAA and HDR (yes even with the 8800's, and X1***'s).

I doubt none of those cards listed could pull off 4xAA, with MAX distant grass/trees.

My setup handles 1440/900 w/HDR, max everything (but grass on 10%) very nicely.

Force AA through the driver. Works great.
