Hello, I am building a Fileserver which will also run Torrent programs, F@H, and stream files to my phone, media pc etc. would this system be ok? Im on a low budget as I dont really want to spend heaps on this -

Mobo -Asus M2NPV-VM $90
CPU - AMD AM2 Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Socket AM2 $88.00
RAM - 1GB-800 Generic $56 (2GB be better?)
Case - UNISTAR SILVER Midi Tower 4 x 5.25" 6 x 3.5" 400W PSU$66.00
Harddrive - 500Gbx3 + 80gb boot
What would you change?
Edit - Probly put my PSU in there around XMAS time when I get a new pc

Will change it to a 500W Antec Smart Power 2.0 but will be a cheap generic 400w at first

This MB and a Bris X2 3600+ would do very well with an OC.
But, if you intend to use OB vid with any MB it will likely screw with the OC!!!
That MB has proven to hit 3G with the suggested CPU.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138061

This MB/CPU combo will save you about $25.

If your not OCing, ignore me

I'd do something like...

x2 3600+ Brisbane
Same motherboard
1 GB of RAM if XP, 2 GB if Vista
same hard drives
7600GS or GT they both can handle HD content with ease

If it's a fileserver it doesn't need a great CPU, just enough to get it done. Also the Brisbane & 7600GS/GT will have no problem playing 720p video. If your planning on playing 1080p, I'd recommend an AMD Processor with a clock speed > 2.4 Ghz.

EDIT: I dont even think you'll need to OC for what your using it for.

i have an amd 3200 and a gig of ram in my media server and it works perfect for me...make sure you get some hard drive cooling though because when you sandwich hard drives together they tend to get quite hot.
