Crysis runs on DX10 notebook - Page 4

these companies need to make games that will last foreva!!

see games like freakin old counter strike still have thousands of people playing it...and look at how old it is? i truely enjoy valve making these types of games because it will last long............ when it comes to crysis...the only good thing i see is the campaign mode and not very much of the multiplayer. The multiplayer on GRAW/2 sucks bad, but has a nice campaign. Crysis will probably have an average online game play. But Counter strike 1.6 online gameplay FTW.... whos with me?
crysis should be perfectly fine runnin on....um that "booty-ful" chick on page one lol....i mean seriously...we cant freakin consoles beat us!!

read vagrant storms post again...i agree with him all the way...crysis isnt going to be like the old school games... it wont cut it. QFT: "it's all about gameplay quality really...graphics quality means nothing if you cant make nothing of the product"

I think you're just over complicating it. People play those games because they enjoy them. At least I do. That makes the most sense.

I have a 8600M, I know it wont do anything on high, but I'm used to playing games on lower settings like high quality but on 1024*768 and no AA.

That is what Microsoft said...and no, it isn't true.

DX10 allows games to start becoming standardized. DX10/Games-For-Windows are good things, since they will ensure a more consistent experience for all gamers.

But a genious company like Crytek or Valve could implement most DX10 features in their DX9 engines, and they could do it with less CPU overhead than using DX10.

However, if they did that people would try to run the games on POS systems. By stating you need a DX10 card, most people are realizing they need to do whole system overhauls. Previously the 'More ghz' thing prompted people to upgrade; now it's DX10 videocards doing it. In the end, this makes things way easier on developers.

It looks as if they haven't posted for a while, but if you look them over you may find someone who has a similar setup.
Its good to see that the admin on their is trying to help give people a rough idea of their systems performance in Crysis but honestly he needs to read more hardware reviews. He states that the 8800GTS 640mb really isn't that good and that it is in fact barely faster than a x1950xtx. So not really a very good reference.

The games don't last 6 months, or you attention span for the game doesn't last 6 months?

I can't understand why people keep saying that the game stories are so much more terrible than 10 years ago...In my opinion gaming has just become sooo main stream that games are no long few and far between. We all love the older games because at the time, the market was not flooded with so many option. Gaming will never be the same because there is too much to compare each game. You will never be happy, face it, all you people complaining about storylines would never buy a game(today) with graphics of say Half Life even if the story was good. Same goes for gameplay.

If anyone cares for the specs of the 8700M:
Stream Processors: 32
Core Clock (MHz): 625
Shader Clock (MHz): 1250
Memory Clock (MHz): 800
Maximum Memory: 512MB
Memory Interface: 128-bit

It is a slightly slower 8600GTS. If this article is true, a overclocked 8600GTS should also be okat 1280x1024. A 8800GTS will be more than enough power.

Toshiba has only two Satellite notebooks with the video card:
http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/...HO&poid=383433
http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/...HO&poid=383432
They are using a T7100(1.8GHz) and T7300(2.0GHz), respectively. Both run at 1440x900.
So an 8800gts has 3x32 pipelines which means.. Yes an 8800gts would be more than enough.. we might be able to max this game out.

if the 8700 has 32 and the 8800gts has 96 pipelines.. we should be good now lets hope our cpu's are

It will just be another FPS...with the only difference from the orginal Doom being better graphics and vehicle combat. People will go hog wild over it for a few months and then move on to the next FPS that comes out.

So every one needs to settle down. If your video card can't handle it in DX10 no big deal...just switch to DX9 and run it maxed.

From what I have seen so far DX9 to DX10 appears to be about the same as going from medium to high shadows and no one goes screaming into trafic from doing that...so just settle down.
OMG, storm the Crytek headquarter's for the massive 3 room supercomputer and Octal SLI unreleased nVidia graphics card setup they must be using to show us the gameplay video's...

Do us a favour and ****. If you don't give 2 hoots about the game, don't give your 2 cents.

Couldn't have said it better myself. We'd all be pissing on Crytek's fire if the nVidia 8800 ran Crysis DX10 maxed out, saying it isn't stressful enough etc.

You've also got to remember it's joe bloggs we're talking about here, who buy's his 2.4Ghz C2D and runs it at 2.4Ghz and who buys their GTS and doesn't overclock. Factor in all of us are running our hardware at least a generation faster than it was designed for then I think we can safely say most of the 8800 owners here can run Crysis on high, if not very high settings.

Just because you hear a lot about it you decide you hate it? I'm sorry, I just don't understand that.

And I don't even get the remark about the graphics in the pong category... we've already seen screenshots and gameplay videos and we know for a fact the graphics are incredible.

And yes, of course people will go wild for a while and get over it. Every game ever has been like that. When they're released they are popular, then they die down. There may still be a lot of people playing them, but you stop reading about it everywhere and everyone stops constantly talking about it and discussing it. That's how most things work, not just video games.
