Thread Starter
I found an ad on the back of an old U.S.News magazine about a dell PC so I decided to check it out! WOW! Has technology progressed greatly in 6 years!

FOR THE LOW LOW PRICE OF $899 YOU CAN GET THIS FABULOUS COMPUTER:

Intel Pentium 4 1.5ghz
128MB SDRAM at 133mhz
20GB Hard Drive
15" ( 13.8" visible ) CRT Moniter
16MB ATI Rage Ultra 4x AGP Graphics Card
16x Max DVD-Rom Drive
Integrated Audio
Harman Kardon HK-195 Speakers
56k PCI Datafax Modem for Windows
MS Works Suite 2001
Windows ME ( ewwww )

*September 2001

Could you imagine having that? I mean I have 4GB of Ram! I have a 3.0ghz proc NOT overclocked! My Harddrive is 400GB! The list goes on and on! You can get a way better computer nowadays for $900 than in 2001!

I have a system similar to that from 2002 laying around specs are awesome so someone is going to get jealous.
1.8ghz Pentium 4
256mb Rdram (pretty sure its that weird kind, too lazy to check)
Geforce MX4000
40 gb hard drive
DVD & CD-RW combo drive
14" CRT monitor

This thing was like 1400 bucks back in the day, It's still actually good for web browsing.

Actually I can top that.

I have the sales booklet with all the features circled of my dads Gateway2000, he spent $2,000:

Extra $200 for 16 instead of 32 megabytes of RAM
Extra $300 for a 266 instead of 233 mhz Pentium II
Extra $150 for a 4 instead of 2 gigabyte hard drive

This is making me feal like an old man, I still have memories of using my dads old computer with an Intel 8088 CPU, keyboard only, green text on black background, we used to think it was the greatest thing. Only thing that topped that was playing "(something) aces" a World War I flying game, came on one floppy, very fun!
