AC condensers

I was in the warehouse at work today and we were throwing away some old AC wall units. Some were stripped so i got my first chance to get a good look at those condensers they use and noticed they look an awfully lot like radiators.
A thought came to me but i wanted to confirm with you guys. Do u thinkthey would be effective in heat transfer like to replace normal wc'ing radiators.
Here's a pic. of one we threw away (had a hole and was leaking freon).

Ofcourse if it'll work am gonna be using a much smaller one.

Looks like a massive heatsink to me that has heatpipes...

if you have the whole ac system then make a phase change cooler. just add a waterblock

ROTFL it is called a "Radiator" and it is used in water cooling to cool the water before/after it is heated up by flowing through the waterblock/s.

The radiator will be excellant for water cooling provided it has large enough fittings, it doesn't leak, and you have a powerful enough pump.

its a condenser from an AC unit. not in watercooling. not every cooling unit is for a computer, ya know

it condenses refrigerant. LOL! water doesn't go through that, although i suppose you could mod it for that but you would need some large fans or airflow to dissipate heat, and a really powerful pump

so it can be used as a rad, its not a rad

This is an oil type radiator and they make for poor PC radiators. They are designed for high temperature deltas and/or low flow. PC cooling requires low temp deltas (1-5C) and high flow. Basically, the tubing that runs through the fins is too thick in cross-section and wall. PC radiators needs many thin internal tubing. For PC cooling apps, a BI radiator like 40-70% smaller would perform better.

Sorry if I sounded so condiscending, he just thought it looked like a heatsink, I just thought it might be possible to convert it to a radiator for a water cooling system. I was however proven wrong by Duckie.

Yes, it can be used as a radiator. It just won't work well.
