Most likely a codec issue.

When I shoot vid with my Canon still shot camera, I get the same problem in Vegas (it uses the MJPEG codec).

DV quality video shot with my Sony DVCam shows up fine in Vegas though ... so I think your problem is simply a codec issue.

Couple of different solutions:

Solution 1: (easiest) - shoot with a different device, or identify the exact codec that the video which your trying to use in the Vegas timeline is encoded in and make sure your system supports it.

Solution 2: download the windows media encoder; use it to convert your source file to the highest quality .WMV (windows media video format) you can and *then* try to load this to the Sony Vegas timeline. This is what I do when I absolutely *must* use my Canon still shot to capture random video footage (usually when my DVCam batteries are dead).

...

Solution 2 works every time for me ... though it's a bit longer of a process ...

good luck.
