Antec P182 questions

Thread Starter
i already have the case, and i love it. even if my cpu temps are 5c more than with the 900.

anyway, i have a coupls of questions about some stuff inside the case.

is the bottom fan really necessary. i just have the feeling that it's blocking the way for all the wires that are down there. i have 2 sata HDDs and for the psu i have the OCZ gamexstream. i mean, the wires from the psu are mere millimeters from the fan blades. HDDs wires have about 2 centimeters of headspace.

the reason i put the HDDs at the bottom is because of the lenght of my 8800gtx. and because of said card, i couldn't put a 120mm fan on that HDD cage. i did manage to stuck it on the other end of the cage where the front panel is, used some tie-wrap and voila.

the other thing is that i had lot of difficulty closing the right side panel because of the wires. i tried everything, but there's just so many, with the molex and all. am i the only one in that situation? i don't see any bump or anything, but i know things a pretty tight in there. every wires in my rigs go throught that back plate. it's so beautiful, the case almost feel empty.

one wire remain from the psu, it's the 4-pin molex for the cpu. i didn't realized while building it that the psu was on the wrong side (wires being at the left of the case), so i don't see the sticker of the psu (the one with the details). if i had put the psu the right way, i would have no wires at all.

i would've like a proper floppy drive bay instead of having rails. just because now i can't put my FM121 fan controller there without modding the thing

besides that, i love the look and the fonctionnality of the case. i particulaly like the fan controllers at the back.

p.s. i will have pics next week probably

Thats was one of the first things I got rid of...I personally feel it is unecessary.

You can get the slimmer profile fans that will fit nicely into this slot at the front of the lower bay but still in the proper fan bay.

Have you tried taping some wires flat against the reaer of the motherboard panel, it can help with your cable management.

Aren't there numerous little slots on the MoBo tray that can be used for zip ties to secure wires? That, and taping, should help with closing the case panel.

I didn't tape any wires down on my case. I just pushed all of the wires flat, so no wire was on top of the other, had my dad set the panel on while my hands were still on top of the wires, took my hands out fast and put the panel on. Tada

But I did take the lower chamber fan out and that's where all of the wires are that I don't need from the PSU.

i took out my fan on the bottom and put in a 92mm fan right in front of the bottom drive cage. i didnt have to tie it down or anything it just sits snug between 2 metal plates and doesnt move at all.

i have a few wires running along the backside of my case but my corsair hx520 has flat wires so it is easier to close the side panel. i removed some of that anti-vibration tape and put some wires there which are pretty much the same width. i just wish i could run my 24-pin atx wire through the back. that one is too thick to run back there. i plan to do some cutting in the near future, lol

edit:
can everyone with the p180/p182 post some pics of their rigs with cables managed? im sure others could use some ideas.

Here's mine. I have no problems with the wiring at the bottom even with the fan installed.
I just put all the wires behind the mobo tray and make sure they're flat against it so that I can close the side panel easily.
