Looks like I'll wait for about 4 - 5 months till the 9800GTX becomes cheaper or if ATI's offering is better (Doubtful though).

Hrm, looks really good to me. I might have to make the jump to Nvidia.

I find it hard to believe that ATI can put out much of anything to compete with a "generation * 1.5" lag that they seem to be in.

Really it just comes down to what can play Crysis at 1600x1200 with virtually all the eyecandy put on. I have some brand loyalty to ATI, but im not stupid, I will go for whats fastest for the cash at the time.

The 9800GTS/GTX definitly can play Crisis on maximum settings.

Will it work with the current PCI-E slot or will we need PCI-E 2 motherboards?

better question is, what kind of cpu do you need not to bottleneck the gpu. Im guessing that a normal c2d wount be enough for it! :-S

PCI-E 2 is backwards compatible with PCI-E. Also, the 8800 Ultra can barely utilize 8x PCIe. 16x PCIe is fine for this card.

C2D would be fine. Future games are ramping up the graphical load again.
Once again...

How do you know? Crytek said theres something in Crysis that not a single card on the market can run ATM.. maybe this can :O

But then again, after seeing the horrible results of the 2900XT we won't know how this will perform. It might look good on paper but we'll have to wait for the benchies

Most C2Ds arn't even enough for 7 series nVidia GPUs. The CPU will always be a bottleneck since the GPU is so much faster.. but it doesn't really matter that much anyways.
