Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX Specifications released! - Page 12

Its all embargoed information thats why.

I know someone in the head spot of marketing for EA and they dont tell me much about Crysis.

Would you risk your job to tell someone something about a game or GPU?

that article is completely bogus. here's why:

it's not an article.

it's a comment on a parent thread about how nvidia will be switching to PCIe 2.0 this fall. completely unsourced, this "article" is even less reliable than wikipedia. thread over.
So I read through this whole slop of thread. Its annoying. But at least someone here ^^ realized whats going on.

First of all, the G92 is not a high-end card. Its a mid-ranged card between the 8600GTS (Absolute suck) and 8800GTS (pretty pwn). Want proof? Search for the thread i made about it a few weeks back in the news section.

Now, as to the naysayers saying nvidia won't skip to the 9 series, its already been confirmed, BY NVIDIA that this will happen. Whose to say they wont be coming out in full force with th 9900's? Whatever it is, this response to an article is fake.

I could go on but this thread is rendering me brainless.

I hope they don't use the 8pin 6 pin psu connector design like ATI's.

Yeah, it's like 15 times faster than your RAM, or something. I believe it has more bandwidth than CPU L2 cache - but it costs a couple dollars per MB to put on.

Zero performance impact.

It wouldnt render the DX10 feature on all the 8 series useless.

I will be pissed if this card is actually 2x faster in real world/gaming. I assume its "2x faster" but its only going to seem like 15-20FPS faster because of bottlenecks.
10.1 is a stricter standard. Think of it like how much better GeForce 7's did over GeForce 6's, in Oblivion.

There's only a little money in making the fastest thing out there, and slaughtering your competition. There's way more money just staying two steps ahead of them forever, and milking cash out of your customers. Intel could learn a thing from nVidia.

This looks amazing, good thing I waited (and I hope these are true!).
Technically 4xAA is twice the AA. 2xAA is only horizontal, or something, so you still get vertical shimmers and edges. 2xQ AA is horizontal, with the image blurred - The effect would be the same as making a semi-transparent copy of the screen 0.5 pixels up + left.

2x2 SS AA is the best; renders the whole screen double-sized, and then shrinks it, just as if doing a bilinear resample on an image. 4xAA checks the 4 pixels beside every pixel, and with Gamma correction on, does some other stuff to make sure details aren't lost. 8xS AA is a mixture of 4xAA and SS 2x1 to get ultimate-ish quality. 16xAA would be 4xAA + SS 2x2. Gamma correction can still be used to improve quality; not 100% certain, but I think it blurs details a bit based on distance. In Warcraft III, it makes the whole interface and text fuzzy, but in other games it smooths out power lines and stuff.

I disagree. "Patched" DX10 titles are running very slowly, but "native" DX10 titles seem to perform quite well. The only game that truly stresses my GPU is FSX (that I own).

Yup. Lost planet, which i think can be considered half-assed native, only stutters below playable frames at 2560x1600.

Native DX10 apps will always work better than patched apps. Native ones are coded from the base up with DX10 in mind so its got very clean coding. DX9 apps updated to DX10 doesnt have the same clean coding leading to slightly worse gameplay in comparison.
