You cant base ur opinion with DX10 on current games performance, coz its not finished and has therefore never fully been utilised. if a 9x series nvidia card gets released in november, who gives a ****. Crysis is out in September, and personally, based on all reviews, the videos/images and my vast experience with games and graphics, you will all do fine. maybe not as good as a GPU server next to a ****ing supercomuter like the GPU manufacturers, but who gives a ****. 70-80 fps @ 1680x1050 with all settings on max and as much AA as i can handle is more than ok for me, u can always want but dont NEED anymore. and it would still look and run sweeeet.

so chill ppl, im confident you're gonna be set 'as is' for a while. Quad core/SLI or Crossfire owners havnt seen their own comps do **** yet. give it a chance.
I bet SLI'd ultras won't run it fully maxed at a very high resolution with good framerates (at least 60 fps at all times)

And you're teling people to chill? YOU need to chill, you're cussing and getting angry because thye are happy and excited over a new product! I don't understand that.

Anyways, on-topic, I wonder if this will lower the prices of 8800 cards, and if so, how much...

Not much. The flagship products of a series carry a astigmatism of being good. Look at the resale prices on Ebay for a 7800GT or GS, they are above the price of a 7900 GT/GS, or the 7800GTX, which is more expensive than 7900GTX's.

wats wrong with constant 60fps with a game like crysis on max graphics? and my 'chill' wasnt a rude "calm down u ****ing psychos", it was a pleasant 'chill, guys' aimed at ppl who currently have awesome quad core SLI/crossfire setups and are starting to stress coz the new kid on the block is rumoured to start blowing stuff away.

like i said, wait and see. i am happy to stand corrected when the times comes, believe me, and ill be the first to admit i was wrong. but until then, i woudnt put money on anythin

How is this thread not closed? The only posts with information in was the OP with a 4 month old comment to an article by some random, and halfway thru when someone posted a 'source' which was even older and from some random site spouting crap.

What a complete and utter waste of everyone's time.

Close this damn thread already

They are transitioning to 65nm, and will most likely cut out some transistors the way they did moving from the 6 series to the 7 series. That is why they only come with a solar panel, cuz they don't need that much extra power.

The 8800's and 2900's are getting compleatly owned in dx10 applications so far. If nVidia does pull the performance this hardware suggests, it WILL blow the 8800 ultra away easily, and should be able to handle dx10 also.

my rig ran world in conflict fine in highest settings and 8x aa and af and it never stuttered while playing. I think we will do fine when we start getting games engineered for dx10 and also as drivers improve even more. I think its gonna a be a while though before we see the max between any dx10 card and dx10 performance till they fine tune both drivers and dx10 games themsleves.
