okay so i was JUST givin a toshiba satellite A215-S4747

i know little to nothing about laptops.. heck i cant even open it up cause when i unscrew it and try to open it some wire inside is holding it closed and i dont want to break it

so before i go to MR. Notebook and have them scam me

tell me please what can i upgrade on this laptop

is it possible to upgrade this to a point where gaming is a possibility?

and anything else i need to know like why is a wire holding my laptop closed from the inside >.<

desktops are so easy.. pop em open change a part... laptops on the other hand... uuugh 90% are upgradable and im betting this is one of those 90%

Well, for those who don't want to check up the specs, I'll post 'em here for you.

# 54g Atherols Wi-Fi (802.11b/g); 10/100 Ethernet; ATI Radeon X1200 graphics card with up to 319 MB of shared memory

It doesn't look that bad, should be able to run many games. You can't really upgrade GPU's in laptops...
It's about time!

Wow... this is a good laptop for free.

No OCing on laptops. Check if you are running 2x512MB or 1GB RAM. If you are running just one SODIMM, get another to enable dual channel and add RAM. That is about all you can do.
Once again...

Only one a very few with a special video card type just for that. I can't remember the standard but GSM or something.

as it turns out the i have the same model. the first thing that i did was up the ram to 4 gig. this made a pretty decent boost in performance. the laptop seems to do fine with some older games (HALO, FEAR, WARHAMMER 40,000) but not so good with HALO2. ( i havent tried any others yet)
i was wondering if anyone could tell me how to raise the shared ram allocation for the video card ?
mine came with (2) 512 meg ram cards.
