MS Office 2008 for Mac

Anyone happen to know when it will be released? All I can manage to find is reports that it'll be out 2nd half of 2007 or between July and September.

If anyone happens to know a more exact date, please let me know. On my MBP I currently only have OpenOffice.org and this coming fall semester I know I'll be using excel a lot, and the compatibility between OOo and MS excel formats is not 100% perfect.

Going to take this time to rip on macs.

If your mac is so brilliant, why do you need a MS program for it?

It is for the most part, I've had a few issuse with charts though in OOo while saving in .xls. They looked different when opened in excel.

Why try to start something?
When did I say my Mac was brilliant?

Maybe I need the new MS Office 2008(Mac) b/c my University is upgrading to it and I heard Office 2008 default format that it saves it can't be opened in Office 2004, and I want to make sure I can open all document my prof. give out. Also Office is a nice Office program.
If you knew anything about Apple you'd know why they have no interest in making an office program.
