Graphics card destabilizing my system?

Ok so I have two computers and my main rig had my 6800gt in it, but I'm giving my second rig to my dad and decided to give him the 6800gt and put my other card (a x1300) in my main rig until I get a new graphics card.

Anyways so I switched the cards and reformatted my computer and now my computer has 0 stability issues. Before the switch it would randomly shutdown, have boot problems, and my overclock would destabilize.

Old setup
e6300 @500 fsb 1.4125vcore
6800gt normal clock
seasonic 600w
2gb g.skill ddr2-6400 HZ D9's @1000mhz 5-5-5-10

New setup
e6300 @500 fsb 1.4125vcore
X1300
seasonic 600w
2gb g.skill ddr2-6400 HZ D9's @1000mhz 5-5-5-10

I had reformatted it before so I'm 99% sure it had nothing to do with my OS. I was under the impression that my PSU provides enough power for me to have no problems so I'm thinking there is something wrong with the 6800gt... should I RMA it?

Seasonic is top tier PSU manufactor. However, PSUs can be defective... have you checked the voltage regulation? Otherwise, it could have been driver issues.
Once again...

I don't think it was my PSU but I'll have my roomate (he's an electrical engineer) check that for me soon. If it has any problems in the other machine I'll probably just RMA it though.

I believe it. I get the same behavior rarely but I'm almost certain it's because of my videocard. I've been at stock with my E6300 for months 'cause it destabilizes at 2.8+. I can't RMA my 7900GT but I'm going to try voltmodding it to 1.4 or 1.5 then keep it at stock clocks and see if I'm still having problems.

anyone else have any problems like this? I just don't really understand unless there is a defect with the card or for some reason my PSU isn't pwerful enough... very unlikely though...
