Cause of freezing- no artifacts, highest temp 62C??

Perhaps I am just ignorant, but I do not understand. When overclocking my graphics card even the slightest bit, it will "freeze" for about 18 seconds. The CPU will continue, but the GPU will just "pause" and then resume. I ran 3dmark06 and it froze twice, at the last two tests. I checked the temps and the highest temp was only 62C. From what I've read in the past, that isn't very hot at all for overheating issues.

I can run it without any artifacts when OCing, but it always continues to freeze every so often for about 18 seconds.

Is this an overheating problem, or something else? I thought overheating caused artifacts, and required temps to be above a measly 62C?

I am just wondering this before I think of upgrading my GPU cooling.

Well, obviously it HAS to be overheating issues, but I was more thinking along the lines of "HOW?" and "WHY?". Perhaps a badly mounted stock fan? Thermal paste? Or is this normal?

It can be your RAM mate.

I had just the same even at stock and I thought my gfx was screwed but I reseated and raised my RAM voltage and the freezes was gone.

Try that, it helped me

That temps are good.. it is not overheating... Mine can reach 80C and nothing happens... no freeze, no artifacts...

What drivers are you using?

No that would just be your card...my 7600 gt started doing that and the temps never went past 70...tried cooling, drivers, and everything else.
Then one day in the BIOS screen it just fizzled out and I heard the beeps.
If it's still working try putting it into another board and using it.

My card has been doing when I OC it ever since I got it new. I'll test to see if it's the ram, thanks.

I am using XP x64's 93.71 nvidia drivers.
