At 16x I would suspect a score of 10500-11500 with an OC'ed CPU and GPU.

At stock you will get 8500-9500.

not huge, but if you manage to SELL that crossfire setup for at least 200$ or more, worth the upgrade!

EDIT- 6k? well, with my 8800gts stock, at 1024*768 i got 10k. I hope that gives you an idea... Just ordered a thermalright HR-03 plus with a silverstone FM121, ill keep you updated on the possibilities.
(by the way, im trying to score points for yer, more reasons to upgrade )
But there is a significant CPU difference.

Hmm, I should check to see what my mobo is currently set to. Modifying the 4x-16x multiplier shouldn't have any adverse effects should it? Cause I just do not get the performance from this setup that I like.

That has just reminded me of a question I wanted to ask you guys,
can I run my 8800GTS in PCI-e 8x mode and if so will it kill my performance?

I would suspect @ 8x you would see a VERY SMALL differance (if any at all) over 16x.
Also you would notice it more at high resolutions.

Move you graphics card to the lower slot?

I just called my wife and had her run 3dMark06 for me (cannot run it remotely for some damn reason), got a score of 3578. *sigh* Perhaps this 8x, 16x thing will make a difference. I'm not sure what I'm running at now, but I hope its low, so I can hopefully see some improvment that doesn't cost $250.

Yeah drop the card down to the lower PCI-E lane and run at 8x bandwidth.

This would then give me a bit more space to rotate my HUGE NB cooler round to sqeeze under my CPU HSF. This would "hopefully" free up enough space to wedge a HR-05 Plus GPU cooler in. God this case is busy

In CF you are probably @ 8x by 8x. A single 8800GTS 320 would kill that score. I say upgrade.
