Clean with high percentage alcohol. You wouldn't put armorall on muddy tires would you?

Clean it with 90%+ alcohol. Something with no fragrance added, etc.

You should only wipe it off if you have more thermal paste. Do not run without thermal paste. If you have something like Arctic Silver 5, remove the old paste off your heat sink and CPU with alcohol and let it sit there for 2-3 minutes to completely dry, then apply your thermal paste.

I give the CPU and HSF a good wipe down with denatured alcohol and a coffee filter.

Are the coffee filters lint free? I've always used just a paper towel lolz, not exactly lint free.

I think it's lint free, but I've never tried it.

If you use a regular paper towel, you can at the end, get a piece of newspaper and ball it up. Make sure you use a part without a lot of ink on. Then just gently wipe your heat sink and CPU. That should remove a few of micro dust.
