Asus and possibly Abit are the only 2 MB companies that doesn't use the Nvidia reference design that I'm aware of.

I have heard that EVGA does have excellent customer support when it comes to honoring their warranties. It seems they have been very liberal. Maybe because they are such a young company, they have to be.

I'm kinda with Ninja, though. I don't think I'd put a $400 CPU in a $60 mobo, but that's just me.

And him...

So far...

A $60 will not overclock well, will not have good cooling, will not have a lot of features, and has very limited PCI-Express Lanes. That's why I got an high-end CPU, with a great overclocking motherboard, and some amazing ram.

As for EVGA, they are known for great warranty and support. If you buy an EVGA motherboard, it doesn't mean that you get less support.

I just thought this was a great deal for those looking for a decent motherboard at a great price.
Ok well, i have owned 3 and built one for a friend and i have never had any problems with any of them and i actually prefer my ASRock Dual SATA-II over this motherboard minus the lack of vista support. but thats why they have the dual-VSTA.

You're right, Ninja Boy. However, it's a $100 board on sale with a rebate that makes it $60. ;-)

If I got a Porsche Boxster for $10, it's still (hopefully - never owned a Porsche) made with the quality of a $50K car. I agree with your statement in general though. Even a $100 board will not have the best cooling or all the features that a $250 board will.

I'm only planning to moderately OC my G0 Quad Core to 3GHz using Crucial Ballistx DDR2-800. I most likely will give the EVGA a try. However, if it doesn't work out, I'll probably get the same Asus P5K Deluxe as you have.

Onelivestarfish,

Will do. Ironically, I was researching this board last night, which is how I knew it supported one PCIe x 16 lane. It was actually $99 from Newegg just last night.

New to the OCN community. I Rep'ed you one. Hopefully, I did it right.

3.0GHz = 500 x 6

There is NO way that eVGA motherboard can get up to 500FSB, P35 motherboard can barely do that with a Quad.

I bought it since I didn't need SLI and have really liked the 680i SLI board that I have on my other system. And so far, I really like the performance.
like i said, the money i saved on the board will now buy me more cooling (NB, SB, better CPU cooling), which will lead to a higher overclock.

And the last i have heard the Q6600 has a 9X multiplier. If so, you don't need 500 FSB to reach 3.0. All you need is 333mhz, which the board will more than aptly handle.
