PWM IC Temp?

Thread Starter
I'm overclocking my computer and my PWM IC is at 50-51C. It's red in ITE Smartgaurdian at 48. How much further can I go, or should I stop?

Sorry for making a thread about this small thing, but I would like to get an answer asap.

Thanks!

I think its best to keep it under 55C. Most people shove a fan blowing in the direction of the PWM heatsinks and this substantially lowers temps.

Thanks. I think I'll push it to 52 at the most and then I may install a window fan to blow around the cpu and pwm ic. I assume it's there, if it isn't how would I identify it?

Power Watt Management Internal Controller is PWM IC?

Just a fast guess haha.

Thanks for your help.

PWM IC stands for pulse width modulator integrated circuit.

Those mosfets that are by your processor, you can also place some heatsinks on them to help dissipate the heat.

Good luck

Mosfets are heatsink looking things with.... towers...?

So I can remove the Mosfets which are kind heatsink looking things and place some better heatsinks there? With thermal paste between them like a cpu or gpu heatsink?

Check out the pic below, ignore those ugly caps lol but the black square looking things (mosfets), on this board they are between the LPT printer port and the processor socket. I have some heatsinks on mine but I used adhesive tape.

I also might be COMPLETELY wrong if anyone else wants to chime in but I've always had heatsinks on these to help the PWM.

Oh, okay. I thought the mosfets were those silver heatsinks in the bottom left corner.

How many of the mosfets are the PWM IC? If the number varies how do I identify which are PWM IC and which are something else?

Thanks for your help. I may try heatsinks on them.

Well I think it varies, my asus a8n-sli came from the factory with a heatsink on them already but my other gigabyte k8nsc-939 had mosfets on 2 different sides of the board. Kinda hard to explain, wish I had picture hehe. Btw was reading another thread and apparently some people were saying the pwm can get up to 70C and still be ok.

Interesting. I don't want to sound ungrateful or anything, but it would be nice if another person could verify that.

I have another question, which I know it's off topic for these forums, but I used AMD64 MaxTCase and it said my temperature was 55C. I guess that's 55C max? I have a 3200+ Venice 939 if anybody knows its temperature max.

Thanks again, this is alot of help and I appreciate it very much.
