e6600 1.56vcore?

Thread Starter
ok i have not overclocked pc yet and in the bios the vcore is set to auto but in pcbrobeII the vcore is showing as 1.56 is that not high for a e6600?

my pc has been running fine for about 3 months now so it aint a big issue i guess just wondering.

edit

ok just ran cpuz and its showing voltage at 1.050 so im thinking pc probe may be a bit off if im going to start ocing should i set the vcore to 1.25 ive heard thats the default.

Are you sure you haven't overclocked your E6600? Stock should be somewhere around 1.3v depending on the particular chip. If you leave it at auto and overclock, the BIOS will scale the vCore up with the overclocking. Once it gets past 1.50v I think, CPU-Z incorrectly reports your voltages, so that's the 1.050v you're seeing.

Just open your bios and check the vcore settings there to get what it is set at. I run at 3.2 with vcore of 1.37 and no problems with the same processor. People are running higher and i could to, but no need. The temp jump between 3.2 and 3.4 isnt too much on the full stess test, but it is at idle which i dont like.

Try resetting your BIOS to default. That'll make sure everything is on stock.

As are we all. How bout posting a picture of the side of the Intel box that the CPU was packaged in.....look for the code for the specific processor.

when my bios detects new cpu, even the bios says its running at 1.55v, but it only does that until i save
post #10 of 13
Thread Starter
it was the bios that was showing the 1.5 and also pc probe tho cpuz gave a 1.05 apparantley due to a prob with with voltages over 1.5. And no can do with the box its gone missing somewhere >.> if my cpu was happy at 1.5 with temps 35 ish idle at 1.5 does that maybe mean a higher oc pottential?

at the moment i am just pondering, i am ashamed to say this but i havent even found the multiplier option on my mobo, all this reading and research and i cant even find the multiplier bah!

ty for the info tho
