Ideal WC Setup (Lian-Li PC60 case) - Page 4

Alright, I think you've swayed me towards the DDC with a custom top, now to think about tops! Petra's top seems to have good ratings from what I've seen, and I just now heard about OCLabs tops, and the one marcus posted is a "XSPC" top. Can anyone do me a favor and run down the pros and cons of these tops (and any others you might recommend)? I'd like to do this right when I eventually do it.

Oh, marcus, I posted the measurements in my previous post. I think that's the measurements you wanted, let me know if I measured the wrong area, or if you want a different measurement.

OCLabs: Awesome, comes in 3 flavors (Clear, clear-UVblue, blue-UVblue), performs best, cheapest. 'nuff said.

Ahh yeh I didnt see that you had posted the measurements... looks like it will fit in then.

Im gonna go ahead and buy a couple of these then.
Anodised blue on the exterior, sprayed black interior and maybe pre-fitted with watercooling n then re-sell them.

Thanks for your help :-)

Alright, so after digesting all of the information in this thread and perusing Petra's and Jab Tech, I think I have a semi-decent setup, critique this as you please. Total is roughly $300, so it looks like I'll have a bit of saving to do by Christmastime.

CPU Block: $59.95
Pump: $99.95
Radiator: $42.95
Tubing: $7.35 for 15'
Additive: $2.50
Reservoir: $19.95
Fans: $31.90

Total Price = $264.55
Total w/Shipping = ~$300

Please tear this setup apart. Critique it as best you can, and back up your changes (if you make any to my list) with some evidence if you can (personal experience is best, but not required). Thanks so much for all your help so far!

Rad link isn't loading. So I guess you don't want to try and fit a 360mm rad on top eh?

Could save a bit by changing to the D5 pump (seem more reliable)

Otherwise looks good, what rad did you choose? I'd get a GTS240 atleast or maybe BIX.

Sorry for the double post, had to address a few things. DangerDen site is back up, so the link works as it should now.

@dr4gon: Due to how I want to position the rad and the in/out lines, the 360 would be too long, and I'd have to do some weird improvisation and have longer lines than I would like. The shorter the better, I'd assume, and the less bending, the better, right?

As for the pump and res/fill port, it seems like there's an even split between the two (D5 vs DDC, fill port vs res), but I'm kind of leaning towards the DDC with a custom top, purely because I can use every inch of space I can get in this case. I could probably fit the D5 as well, so it'll be a toss up I think when it comes time to place the order. I'm thinking a reservoir now, and again, this will probably change week to week until I order the setup, as I weigh my options.

Thanks again for your input, it's really helped so far!

im not dr4gon, but yeah, you're right about that.

as for the pump/res... DDC is higly recommended over a D5, and nice res over a Tline. just because it bleeds and looks better, with no added costs depending on the res. (the swiftech res is awesome and cheap)

and the BIX II should be fine.

I agree on the DDC and aftermarket top. Petra's is obviously a good choice but does come with a slight drop in head. The alphacool is just sweet, max head with slightly lower flow rates and can be tucked into a 3.5" drive bay (mounting holes)

But my absolute favorite is the OCLabs. Has the best outlet design, is super small, and is clear so you can wave your e-penis around as you show off your orange impeller!

Yeh im a fan of the DDC over the D5, although I personally prefer the old OC Labs Top or the XSPC Top.
I'll get a pic of the old OC Labs top later but its pretty much the same as the XSPC top I posted a pic of further up ^^.
