New Build: Final

Thread Starter
So I have been picking out parts for the past few days, and this is what it has come down to:

CPU: Q6600 (I'm not sure where the best place to buy it at is, would prefer G0 stepping)

Mobo: P5K Deluxe (or another P35 mobo if anyone has any suggestions)

RAM: 4x1gb Crucial Ballistix

GPU: X1950XT (unless there is a better cheap choice. I'm waiting for the 9800gtx.)

PSU: PC Power and Cooling 750w Quad Copper

Case: Techstation

Cooling: Ultra 120 Extreme + ??? fan x2 (dunno what's a good cheap choice. FM121?)

Hard drives: 2x WD 250gb 16mb cache

Soundcard: X-Fi XtremeMusic

aaand that's about it.

Are there any better parts than what I chose? I'm trying to keep it relitivley cheap, so keep that in mind when you reccomend $500 GPU's.

Would Ballistix be better than the HZ's?

About the same. (regarding the RAM). Both are excellent.

Chose a P35 motherboard from Gigabyte or Asus, the GPU is good if you wait for 9800 but also you can get GeForce 7900GS. Your RAM is great if you want to overclock you baby but if you're not going to do that, choose Kingston HyperX.

About the hard drives, I'll go for two 500GB with NCQ and make them in Raid 0.

The X1950XT is far superior to the 7900GS

more than enough... my sig rig has only dual 12v rails and a max of 700w and my system is rock stable. I'm running another similar rig with only a 620w Corsair PSU.
