No change in fps with overclock

Thread Starter
Hey.
I have an evga gtx8800.
the stock speeds are 576 and 900.
My overclock with atitool takes it to 630 and 960.
My temps go up but when I bench some games my fps dont move.
Trackmania with everything max at 1360 768 still runs at 57fps.
What am I doing wrong?

Overclocking the GPU isn't going to make much difference with that CPU. Are you sure the settings are applied? You need to make sure those clocks are set not just run there with atitool.

United does not have a vsync option? I dont think its on as the fps will go over 60 in game.
So does the CPU have an effect on fps then. Sorry to be dense. I did think of switching to intel after hearing crysis will be optimised for them.

yes the cpu affects (bottleneck) the FPS...this happens when your graphic card has to wait for 3d coordinates, psychics or AI instructions < causing stutters framedrops etc....
However in games that are very GPU intensive the card will perform very good and your FPS will be very high all the way,
So for example: put psychics at medium, in CPU intensive games and the FPS will go up cause there are less instructions from the CPU, that the GPU has to wait for....

and you can turn v-sync off in the Nvidia control panel, it limits the FPS to the refresh rate of your screen
