E2160 vs E6600 benchies

I was just on the ocuk forums and saw this...e2160 and e6600 at the same clocks benchmarked....quite interesting

Conclusions

What these graphs tell us is perhaps what we already knew; that the e6600 is faster than the e2160, and that overclocking is cool! Perhaps what isn’t so well known, certainly outside enthusiast circles, is that having only 1MB of CPU level 2 cache isn’t a drag on performance in modern games. The e2160 holds it's own, and certainly didn't notice any slowdown through general operation of windows using the chip. I'd recommend it for medium budget games systems without hesitation.

The e2160 may be called a Pentium, but the similarities end there

i knew it. cache doesn't matter as long as its at least 1MB shared. the only thing i could think of would be extracting .tar.gz file archives or .zip .rar file archives: there, more cache=less time

I would love to get this cpu for my cousin... but I have never OC'd before. It's all too intimidating. Plus, he's ganna need his computer for a long time. I feel like this would fry his chip eventually.

Wow, I knew the e2160 has the Core 2 Duo architecture, but didn't realize they were this good (especially for the price!).

It seems like the e2160 may be perfect for the budget builder.

Thanks for the link!

works well enough for me, no slow downs here!
3hgz@ stock voltage, right now at 3.2ghz with a tad bit more voltage with room to grow.
Best $90 I've ever spent.

If ive got the money i will definitely build my rig around the E2160 or e2140...not a big enough difference in performance for me to shell out the extra $$ for the e4300 or higher.
