Did I Fry My cpu?

Thread Starter 
when I got home today my sig rig was off I had left it priming couldnt get it to start. it started runed for 5sec then shut off... I removed it from the case and had the mb on the bag that it comes in without the cpu the mb runs fine but when I installed the cpu and cooler it got the same sympton again

try clearing the CMOS?

Considering your MB and PS, I'd look at the PS first.
Can you do a quick rail check w/a volt meter?

Sounds like your CPU may have over heated. Or just died.

Can you get access to another system to test the CPU in?

Is there any burn marks on the CPU or around the socket?

thats what my first p5b deluxe did, my board went bad, try removing your memory and see if it still crashes, if not then next leave memory in and remove video card. something on mine went bad, mine wouldnt stay on with a video card in socket...

No beeps the system isnt on so long that I would get any

I'm gonna check with the voltmeter

Maybe later this week I can try it in a friends computer,,, No burn marks that I saw I doubt it overheated it was runing at 45c...

Then it does sound like a PSU problem. Maybe you had a power surge

I just did it with a voltmeter had to remove the cpu so the mb would stay on

12v line : 12.15 didn't change

5v Line : 4,30-33

I think the psu fried

atleast I remeber doing this before and it was more like 5v the whole time

Two of my Antecs, not to take anything away from their quality since they were about 5 years old and running 24/7, 5.v rails went weak on me and caused many issues.

BTW, they have a 3 year warranty it that matters or helps!

I really hope it just the psu cause have have warranty on it wich I dont have on the CPU
