Yes, lap it. Might even help resale value at OCN.
  • 14% (3)
No, don't, it would hurt resale value too much.

I am thinking of lapping my E6600 to go with my lapped tuniq tower. I am pretty sure i could get better temps if i did lap my E6600, not only that but i am also pretty sure it needs to be reseated anyways, this time with less AS5 and using Audi's method.

Would this hurt the resale value of my E6600? By selling it on OCN i think it might actually be a good thing and maybe even add a few $ to the value. But on eBay I have never even seen a lapped CPU so I don't think it would go over well there.

I enjoy tinkering and lapping so the only question is that of the resale value. I would try to sell it on OCN before going anywhere else anyways...

I would say on OCN, you shouldn't have a problem, as long as you can provide Screen shots of CPUz with "E6600" in it.

take pics first, along with recording numbers and stuff off top.

Order a kit from these folks, get the premium kit and final finish compound.

Yup, I'm with him.

If the lapping goes well, and temps drops, you may be able to sell it for a bit of a higher price over non-lap + lapped Tuinq.

If its nicely lapped and can overclock nicely on lower voltage then it would definitely help the resale value

I don't think a kit is needed, Walmart has everything you need lol. I've done it before, twice. Turned out beautiful. I even dropped around 5-10C off a P4 via walmart lol.

You guys are giving me the answer i was hoping for I love to lap so this is great.

I agree, it may not increase value, but to show that temps are low in cpu-z is worth it, you may get more on a OC site if sold as most ppl now would lap it, or have thought of doing it themself but are to worried to.

I'm going to pick up sand paper and duct tape right after class today

Expect pictures in a new thread later today.

It's a perfect day to lap, nice and rainy outside. And unusually cool for Texas.

Can't wait for the before/after pics and temp readings! And by cool for Texas, you mean its no longer triple digits?
