$750-$950 Intel Build Advice Needed

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I am looking for some advice on a newegg build for 750 to 950 with medium quality parts. Will be taking to college so most of the use out of it will be mid range gaming ie. css or other games on medium-low settings.

If you guys could help me out with a few suggested build options while I compile my own build list I could mix and match some of your guys suggestions with what I come up with. I will be leaving my current rig at home so I might take the 7950 out from my current rig and use it in the rig that I am building now so if possible plz take that into consideration with 2 build options w/ one build option without a graphics card, the other with a midrange card.

Ram is a biggie for me as alot of the work I will be doing will be a ram hog so plz take that into mind.

Also, I will be using a LCD TV screen as the monitor for the computer so take that into mind while checking the GFX options, not sure what lcd I am looking at but Ill fill you in on that when I widdle my options down a little bit.

A few of the things that I can't change are the following:
  • Must be housed in a case smaller then the Thermaltake Armor
  • Must not be a pink case
  • Must be have a pci-e compatable mobo
  • Must have air cooling in mind
  • Must have decent ram
  • Must have 2GB RAM

Ill post back in a little bit with what I came up with and I will hopefuly find some good suggestions.

For those that take the time to help I shalt be eternally gratefull.

Again, thanks in advance.

I just noticed your sig rig. I don't see why you really need a new computer now.

This is what I was thinking.

I forgot the optical drive... sorry

Here's what I came up with:

After MIR's you're below your $950. If you want to go lower, switch to a 8600 card or remove the card entirely (for your current card). If you did either of those you'd have the option to go quad if you really wanted to.

add 7600GT for $80 if not using GX2, essentially still in your budget at $960
Q6600 seems like something overpriced for the build.

Im thinking either a e4400 which can be overclocked. Saves you a couple hundred which can be placed elsewhere.

If you dont want to overclock I would still suggest a e4300 or e4400 they are still workhorses at stock.
