Intel changed to VRM's for the Core 2's, making them incompatible, but still no lose, by the time the 775 boards were cheap people were upgrading to them and core 2 duos. We were not left out in the cold like the poor Socket 939 folks.

Intel folks tend to overlook that fact... same socket != compatible!

Fuzion will not be for us enthusiasts for some time btw. The first fuzion sockets are going to be used in laptops more than likely and we can use AM2->AM2+->AM3 without worry. AMD heard the cries over the death of 939, they won't repeat if possible. Sometimes however, changes in technology will ask more of the socket and those jerks will just have to switch them out on us It's awesome that Intel has not made enough critical adjustments to their connections to warrant a new socket in these last 3 1/2 years...

That Barcelona @ 3.0Ghz has to be consuming 140Watts or so considering their 2.5Ghz chips come in at 125Watts...

Hard to compete with Intel 3.0Ghz 80 Watts quad cores.

That makes no sense... I swear to god a little birdy told me you can use K10 CPu's in a K8 socket without getting a new motherboard

And 939 did not have DDR2 support, AM2 does. that's what's different

By the way, you can use these new chips in socket AM2, you just don't get full performance... which is kind of pointless when you're upgrading.
