X1950XT Vs. 8600GT(S)

Thread Starter
I am thinking of getting an 8600GT or GTS over the X1950XT that I was planning on getting. I would OC and vmod the card, if that makes any difference.

I was thinking the 8600 series because I have heard of their amazing overclocking, and I like the single slot design over the dual slot x1950XT one.

I am really not concerned with performance all that much, I just want something cheap to hold off until the 9800/HD 2950 series come out.

Thanks

you should have just kept your 2900. unless all your PCI slots are full, i can't imagine why you'd pick an 8600 over a 1950 just based on its single slot design.

Well if your not concerned with performance much a 7900GS should do you fine, it overclocks like mad, and then some.., thats if its cheaper than the 2.But if its from the two youve mentioned, get the cheaper and overclock...personally id get the 1950XT its one of the most powerful DX9 cards.

agreed with the 1950xt at least from a performance standpoint. so far I have yet t osee a 8600 start to snag up into 7500 range in 3dmark06. and if it can be done I would assunme it would take a volt mod to do while on the 1950xt I just slide the voltage slider around to get the clocks I want

Anything under 8800 is absolutely horrible, save some more money for an 8800GTX 320MB.

Or go with the ATI. <--- first time I ever said that in my life... :O
