Q6700 G0 Worth it?

Thread Starter
Hey all, I'll start by saying that I have no patient's, lol. I've been waiting to get the G0 Q6600's in at work, but today we got a box of the Q6700 G0's in. Would the exrta multi and stock speed be worth it? Are they overclocking as well as the Q6600's? TIA

Honestly, You'll probably get to about the same speed on either processor. The extra Multi isn't going to help or hurt you.

That's just my You can give them a try and compare them to what everyone else is getting, but I don't think you'll find many people with experience on that chip.

the higher multi will help if your fsb limited. It will allow you to get higher clocks. But if you can get to 500fsb i dont think it will matter. cause 500x7 is 2.5 gigs.

What form of medicine do you practice?

You should be able to get the same overclock out of them, ideally speaking, and have more options on how to get the maximum clock because of the higher multiplier and the fact that it's unlocked for lower numbers.

My bad, lol. No spell check on this machine. My board seem to top out at about 450mhz or so.

Well then assuming both the Q6600 and Q6700 G0s overclock the same, I would go with the 6700 so that you can get a higher clock with the higher multiplier.

I wouldn't think it would be possible on air, anyway. But with the higher multiplier the motherboard temperatures wouldn't be as much of an issue because of the lower FSB (versus a Q6600 at the same speed).

Though my suggestion was also made not thinking that the quad cores had the same multipliers as the dual cores, for some reason.

nah not worth it man, you can OC the hell out of a Q6600 G0 and save the money, they'll be out in a week or two just be patient

waiting for something you want makes you appreciate it more when you finally have it

No need to worry about air cooling, it would go under water in my sig rig.

4.0ghz would be nice!
