please fill out your system specs. I stay with just the 2 sticks for better OC'ing and dual channel

XP works fine with 4GB of RAM. You just need 64-bit XP Pro or Server. No 32-bit OS can natively utilize 4GB of RAM.

If you are not running anything that utilizes the extra RAM, go with 2GB is better since they will perform faster with Dual Channel.

thanks

when you say dual channel what exactly do u mean?

so your saying w/the 4 in there.. it wouldnt perform as fast as if there were only 2... is there a reason for that?

If you have 32-bit Windows, does that mean the 4GB won't be utilized in new games too? I know this is probably a stupid question, but I always just assumed games can't use 4GB either.

Correct. The OS does not have enough unique numbers for each bit of RAM.

Collateral, if you have a GTX and plan to use DX10, then why just upgrade to Vista and take advantage of all 4GB's RAM? In order to use DX10 you'll have to upgrade anyways..That's what I'm gonna do, since I'll be getting the GTX for my build. I'll only have 2GB of RAM but will think about upgrading 4GB if the performance is noticably better in Vista.

No. Just the upgrade to Vista will not allow utilization of all 4GB. Again, the issue is 32-bit OS do not have enough unique values. He can use XP Pro 64 or any version of Vista 64-bit to utilize the RAM.

ohh ok, so it's the 64-Bit version of Vista that supports 4GB RAM and not the 32-Bit version?? You just answered my next question! Now if I can just remember all this! LOL I think, I'll be going with 64-Bit version of Vista. Thanks again DuckieHo!
