Overclock dying out?

I had an OC of 650 (the most possible via rivatuner hardware monitor is 648)..

650-660 makes 648.
666 = like 680 or something and it's completely unstable.

So I had the mem at 1050 for a 3DMark06 benchie.

Once I wanted to bench the new drivers with 3DMark so I set as before, 660 + 1050 quick artifact scan came up with hundreds in Delta.

So I lowered and tried to find the closest stable which is 1048.. The next after that is 1050...

So why is 1050 unstable now?? It made my screen after a few mins artifact like crazy and froze.
Is my baby dying??

As long as you've benched with 1050 on the mem before and the only thing you changed was the core clock from 650->660 then the gpu clock is most likely the thing thats unstable. Lower the core clock and leave the mem @ 1050 and see what happens...

Btw dieing is spelt *dying*

Uh the clock was 650 today with the 1050. The clock is usually at 575 because that's more than enough for any of my games but when I bench I want the best..

Hm, I'll see what I can do.. :|

Well according to your first post the core was @ 660 when u ran the artifact scan and got artifacts. So for the record when u ran the artifcat scan was the core at 650 or 660?

Well considering your card pretty much has to be relatively new, there is probably another factor at play. I would assume maybe a change in room temp leading to change in case temp, or maybe your PSU is just being overworked and cannot keep up with your cards power needs.

Edit: just noticed you have the same board as I do so I will hijack your thread a little. Do you ever have problem with your board not working correctly and losing video? Cause I am on my third one and they told me my PSU was not strong enough.

Hijack away, uh no I haven't had that happen..

My PSU is dieing though. I've noticed a nice drop in the 12V rails to 11.70 or 40.. I'll tell you once my safemode scan is done.

Also my other volts according to PC Probe has been lowering.. I do need a new PSU

Uh as the board you are just unlucky I guess. It's very stable and the features are endless.

Card is pretty new. Less than a year.

Uh I see you have SLi with 500w Antec.. That should be fine. I don't have SLi so I don't know how this board acts under that.. That may be your issue..
