I traded emails with the author of core temp. His comment was that some of these new processors may have a Tjunction of 100C as opposed to 85C. Core temp calculates core temperature by subtracting the digital thermal sensor (DTS) reading embedded in the core, from Tjunction, (i.e. Tjunction - DTS)

This being the case, your tem readings should be 100-85 or 15C off.
So if you add 15C to your core temp readings, you should be ok.
Speedfan allows you to apply an "offset" to temp values so you can read the values directly.

Also, the thermal spec for this chip is 72C as opposed to the 61C 1066 fsb series.

I checked this briefly starting with stock settings and working up to 3.8 ghz.

With my water setup, the chip idled at ~25C which is ~3C above the ambient room temperature, and went to ~27C idle @3.8 ghz (1.42v vcore).

I'm very impressed with how cool this chip runs.

And yes, there is a 500Mhz wall...
