couple more questions yet

Thread Starter
so today i picked up a
apevia x-cruiser case
thermaltake toughpower 750W psu
E6600 core 2 duo
and 2gb of OCZ ddr2 dual channel pc6400 sli ready ram is on its way in the mail
and tiger didnt have any of the Asus P5N32-E SLI mobos in stock, or the evga 8800 gtx either.

the questions come when i checked online, theres the normal P5N32-E SLI
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...642&CatId=2541
and theres also the plus, which is CHEAPER? http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...656&CatId=2541
seems like the only difference is the plus supports quad SLI but i dont understand why its cheaper.

next question is:
with the setup im looking at running, should i be looking at windows xp or windows vista? i dont know anything/have any experience with vista, but if theres any good reasons to upgrade i will consider it for sure

last question is:
what would be some good settings to overclock at once i have it running nicely? i know it depends alot on airflow and whatnot, but what is a generally "safe" overclock to run all of that at?

64Bit vista is said to be faster but I myself do not have proof. It all depend on the Processor for OC'ing the are all different. Try 3ghz and the 3.2 and then 3.6 and so on.

3.2 @ 356 FSB works well. Pretty easy to obtain without generating lots of heat.

okay thanks, and is it worth getting the gtx or getting the gts and just overclocking it, from what ive read it overclocks alot better because it doesnt get as hot

Both boards support 1333FSB CPU's and Core 2 Quad's, but the P5N32-E SLi uses a proper 680i chipset while the plus is useing a 650i/430 frankenboard implementation.

You may aswell go ahead and get Vista x64. I don't see much point in useing Windows XP these days with DirectX 10 games being released over the coming months.

You'll hit 3.0Ghz on an E6600 simply by raiseing the FSB from 1066 to 1333. You won't even have to mess about with any vCore options.

In my opinion, a single 8800GTS is pretty much all you need to run any game out at the moment at high settings.
