overclocking mah E6320

Thread Starter
well, i bought my new motherboard and CPU the other day, an EVGA 650i Ultra and E6320.

I've raised the FSB to 1500 and made it unlinked, so i now have a stable oc of 2.6Ghz.

however, I want to go higher .

so someone told me to raise the vcore to 1.325 and the cpu fsb to 1.4v

then the rated fsb to 2140.

this should have given me 3.2Ghz.

it didn't boot windows. Any help?

specs:

2x1GB Corsair XMS Dominator

hello and welcome to OCN. please go up to your User CP and put those system specs into your sig. it will help everyone to help you easier. it will give you something to do while you wait for a 650i motherboard owner to come along. you tried setting your FSB to 535, which is not an easy thing to do. personally, i think setting your FSB to 400 (1600 QDR) is a nice, cool, easy overclock. if that doesn't sound like enough to you, one of our resident crazy people will be with you shortly .

I'm pretty sure that around 400 the 650 will hit an FSB "wall"..

'I don't think you would be able to go much past that.

Read some guides, you can't just pick and choose numbers out of the blue.

One thing you need to understand is, not all processors are made equal. So, not every processor can clock much much higher.

Back on Topic :

Find out what FSB the processor is stable at a particular voltage. Then go from there :

Find out what the maximum safe voltage for the E6320 is , and very slowly, in small increments keep increasing the voltage to that level. DONT OVERDO IT.

Relax memory timings.

lock pci-e frequency.

well i know there's a spot where you cant go (2.7 to 3.1) but other people with the same spec as me have got it past that blank spot to 3.2

Also it's Overclocking my E6320.

Spelling and Grammar is required by the TOS to be in the best shape..

System specs go in USERCP -> add system.

What you have makes your sig too long and violates TOS.

i know not all processors are exactly the same and there is no guaranteed overclock, but i've built three systems with E6300/E6320s in the past few months and all three of them hit 2.8 (400FSB) without any effort at all. i set the V-Core at 1.30 for this speed. however, i'm not familiar with the quirks of your motherboard, so i can't really give you intelligent advice on what to set beyond that. just make sure you don't go crazy with the voltage while you're experiment. too many volts have killed many good computers.

relax mem timings, keep adding vcore, and then tighten mem timings at your stable oc, thats i how i got to 3.4ghz on the e6320 lol

well, i eventually got to raising the vcore to 1.6v, but it stlill stayed at 1.3 volts. like, i entered 1.6 but it stayed at 1.3.
