question about a cd-key

well i just got back from best buy and i had some money to spend...well i really wanted lost planet so i brought it...well i get home to play it and forgot it was a steam program XD.

my key is like this(xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxx -xxxxx) its missing 2 letters/numbers, so should i take it back to best buy and complain? i know they don't take them back once they are opened. but i paid 40 bucks for it..

help?!

Yes, i remember when my Battle Field 2142 never came with a CD Key. They replaced it for me with no problems.

Simply take it back and get them to replace it. Because it is an un-usable product. They have no right to deny you a refund or a replacement.

They only deny you it if the product was in a working order (because there is a possibility that you could have activated the game and rendered it un-usable if someone else bought it) This is not the case here

Explain the situation to them and if they deny you a replacement. Ask to speak to the manager. Give him an earful and threaten to report him if he doesn't give you a replacement.

It is illegeal for them to deny you a replacement and so he will happily give you a new one
