Setup for SupComm?

Thread Starter
Hey all,

Just picked up a copy of Supreme Commander...its ownage!

However my system seems to lag (massively) on large maps...im in need of an upgrade.

I curently have:

Core 2 Duo E6300
1GB dual chanel DDR662 Memory (OCZ)
X1650pro w/ 512mb vram (HIS)
Intel D975XBX Board
Crapy little PSU
Water Cooling for the CPU and Graphics

My bugget is $600.00 CND. The target is to build a system that can run SupComm (and other high end games) at a Framerate of 20-30 FPS min.

I will keep my C2D for sure, i would like to keep the board, but that can be changed out. Everything else goes. Any recomendations on parts?

(This is running under Vista so DX10 cards are an option )

Tell me what i need to get without going overboard (i.e. no 8800 series GPU)

Thx Guys

Upgrade the RAM for sure and get a new 8800GTS... that is all.

My system runs SupCom near highest at 40FPS+
Once again...

I think you are going overboard, Supreme Commander will make even the best system strain. Maybe upgrade your graphics card to around a 7950GT level and you will pretty much be set, just don't expect to run it at max quality and AA/AF.

Try turning all quality settings to medium, this makes a massive difference.

Get the Corsair 520w from www.buy.com. It is $80 and an excellent PSU.

Go with all Duckie's suggestions. I can run on high with 40FPSish with 2 monitors (1680x1050, and 1280x1024).
