LCD Mod Made Easy. . .

for a price:

5'' LCD Bay Module

Pretty cool that a lot of popular mods are made easy by companies having a ready made product for it, although they always seem to be grossly overpriced in respects to how much it would cost to do the mod yourself.

I would too, makes life a lot easier in terms of mounting and converting the screen to run off a 4-pin molex, but the price is just way too high.

I got my screen for like $30 I think, and you can pick up the materials to transfer it over to run off 12v from your PSU for like $20 tops.

Or you could go cheap, like me, and just run it off AC

Or you can just buy a simple PS1 LCD screen, take the back off of it, solder one wire for composite cable directly to your composite out on your video card and you are done for $30 + solder and possibly the composite head ($1).

And if anyone needs the pin-outs of the PS1 LCD's, I got them all. I used to make portable consoles with them a while back. Very easy to mod screens and simple to make them take composite in. (including sound).

I bought a cheapy xbox LCD for like $28. It's a bit more complicated to work with, and I haven't found anyway to make it run off DC, but I do know it runs off 12v.

I'm just using AC power because I'm lazy lol

But a 20" monitor wouldn't fit in your front panel.

FrozenCPU and PerformancPCs have been selling these things for years now.

PerformancePCs had them on their front page saying it was "new". I take it they probably just got updated versions or a new-er screen.

I believe the modded ones that come with the frame are new.
