Non-Mainstream?

Are there any graphics chipset brands out there that can compete with nVidia and ATI or is it pretty much a two-horse race? I hardly ever hear about any other brand of graphics, and I don't mean the different brands releasing ATI or nVidia based cards.

Two horse race in the discrete video card market. Intel actually has the biggest share of the graphics market though with integrated video. Most users don't need a video card... except for gaming, graphic design, HD content, or scientific modeling. They are developing a new discrete video card (again) though. There is also SiS and VIA who produce integrated video. They use to make video cards.

Well, Matrox and S3 are still around making cards. But those a commercial rendering cards and are like 1k USD ups.
