Which P35 Motherboard?

Thread Starter
Hi, I am planning a new Intel build for the start of September and was looking for some advice regarding which motherboard to get.

I know for sure that I want a P35 motherboard but I'm just a bit stuck as for which one to choose...

At first I pretty much decided to get the Gigabyte P35C, but then I learnt that the extra money for the DDR3 support isnt really worth it, seeing as I'll probably need to upgrade by the time it becomes standard etc.

After that I thought I'd go with the DDR2 version of the same board (GA-P35-DS3R), its cheaper, supposedly a great overclocker and has everything I need.

The I was looking around yesterday and noticed the GA-P35-S3, which is basically the same, bar a few features that I probably wont need.. its £10 cheaper btw.

Does anyone have the GA-P35-S3? How is it/How does it compare to its bigger brothers?

Basically I'd like you to suggest me a decent P35 motherboard, one that supports DDR2, is a pretty good overclocker, up to about £90 but the cheaper the better . (I'm not particularly bothered about Sli or Crossfire...)

I haven't really looked at other brands than Gigabyte but I'm open to any suggestions!

Sorry if this has been answered before..

Thanks a lot for your help! Much appreciated.

The Abit IP35 is a good choice, and 90 after VAT, whatever VAT happens to be. The Asus P5K vanilla is a good choice, too, as well as the Asus P5KC. Any P35 motherboard, no matter the cost, will be a fairly good value.

Ah.. well it wasn't exactly the accurate answer but thanks anyway, I'll take that into consideration!

I'm off now so I'll check back tomorrow!

I have the P5KC and it's a great board. It can run DDR3 or DDR2 RAM, your choice, it has 6 RAM slots, 2 are for DDR3 and 4 are for DDR2. The only thing not great about this board is that it has an ICH9 chip...so it can't run RAID on the internal SATA ports. But RAID can be run using the JMicron controller on the eSATA. It's a great price for this board and it has options that a lot don't have such as the being able to run DDR3 or DDR2 RAM.
