arctic silver 5 on 8800 gtx raised temp's :( - Page 2

Well I kinda figured that would happen with those white pads, so I bunched them up in the center again where they were squished just in case, and it still did it.

Update however, idle temp on the gpu is still about 6c higher now, but the load temp is about 7c lower. so I guess it kinda worked.

Dont even try to say I did anything wrong, especially when I had the balls to lap my cpu and heatsink, which worked, but I just need to give in and buy a better hs. You can visually see that the main copper piece that goes over the gpu is at an angle and theres nothing I can do to replace it, so I will probably just replace it with an aftermarket version.

They talk about AS5 having a break-in period. Maybe you'll notice better tmps in a week.

Thats usually 2-3C. Then again thats for CPU's, so it may be more for the GPU's.

But if your load temps are lower, it sure as hell did work. Who gives a rat's ass about idle temps? Unless its idling over its limit, load is all that matters.

Yeh, I know, but its still weird is all. I dont think I have ever seen any before and temps before anywhere, where the idle went up and the load went down. but yeh, it works. Still might invest in this though.

I think I will see if my dad can make me some custom heatsink for the ram that are like 3 inches talls.
