Video RAM timings

Thread Starter
Is there anyway to adjust the graphics card's memory timings and is it advised?

I think youd have to mod your BIOS on a NVidia card. Maybe you could use riva tuner also. I know my card is ATI But im fairly certain that the mem on "most" cards is samsung. When i tried changing mine all i got was a very unstable card with tighter timings and a slightly better OC with a performance HIT on looser timings. I wouldnt recommend it.

For the most part it is not recommended to mess with the VGA RAM timings. It is possible through a modded graphics BIOS, which can be edited with such tools as NiBiTor, but its fairly complicated and offers minimal returns. The one thing I have seen for timing editing was back in the Nvidia 6 series days, people would take a 6800GT BIOS and flash an 6800 ULTRA with it. The GT BIOS was fro the most part the same as the ultra BIOS, the only difference being tighter RAM timings and lower mem/gpu clocks. After the BIOS was flashed in, the ultra would then be overclocked back to stock or beyond speeds. It offered a few extra points in various benchmarks. If I recall correctly about 150-200 in 3dmark05
